Unfortunately, cyber criminals have started using Skype too. They post ads that look legitimate for Microsoft but if you click on them it downloads ransomware.
The best way to avoid this scam is to download directly from the website. If it’s a Microsoft link, go directly to Microsoft.com. If you can’t find the particular download on the website, it wasn’t a legitimate ad.
