Recently we blogged about making passwords more secure by using caps, numbers, and symbols.  The person who invented the ‘advanced’ password has said that while that information is valid, it’s not practical.

So, the new strategy?  Use a pass phrase (which was covered in our newsletter) with at least four words in it.

Research shows that the password: ‘Tr0ub4dor&3’, can be hacked in 3 days.  For a phrase similar to: novemberwillbetropical it could take years.  The best thing about a pass phrase is that you will remember it.  W we should probably stay away from things like ‘Ihatepasswords’ or ‘passwordsarestupid.’

One final note, the research is saying to only change your password if it has been compromised rather than every 3 months.
