This term is used to describe accounts that been closed for a while and reopened.

There are three ways that these accounts can ‘come back to life’ if you will:

1:  Accidentally.

2:  ‘Targeted,’ which means that someone intentionally uses an account that they know was turned off in order to cause distress or as a joke (usually accounts of people that have passed away).

3:  Finally is the ‘non-targeted.’  This is a hacker using an old account for spamming or other malicious reasons.

Have you turned off an account?

If you have you may want to go and make sure that it is still turned off and if not delete your contacts and all of your details out of it so that they can’t be used!

If you get an email from an old address, double check with that person before opening attachments, they could be malicious!
