TrickBot is a banking Trojan that is spread through phishing emails with attachments.

These emails are well written and very official looking without the grammatical errors that we have come to associate with scams.

After you open the attachment, TrickBot is downloaded and sits in the background for you to go to your banking website.  When you do, it sends you to a fake website and when you attempt to log in, you give them all they need to take access your account and your money.

How to protect yourself?

1:  Don’t open attachments if you aren’t sure where they are coming from.

If you get an attachment from a ‘friend’ contact them to be sure that they sent something to you.

2:  If you do open the attachment and it tells you to enable macros, say NO.

3:  Consider using two factor authentication for your banking accounts.
